Last Thursday, we had our first "real" appointment with the ocularist who is creating Sage's prosthetic eye. There is just so much to say about it, I don't know where to begin. For the moment, I am going to let you just enjoy the pictures, I will blog more about the experience later. So here goes:
The progression of creating an eye
The doctor suctioning out the conformer (like a large, clear contact she's been wearing over the orb the surgeon put in last month). Sage did so great!!

We spent a lot of time waiting in the office playing trains while the doctor began painting Sage's very own iris and pupil for her prosthetic eye.
The doctor wanted to check the placement of the pupil and iris against her other eye, but since hers was not done yet he used a blue one he had ready. How crazy is that? The only time she'll have an eye the same color as her siblings! Her prosthetic eye will be a bit larger (so her eyelid will be open as much as the other) and obviously dark brown. I can't wait to see the end result. It will happen this Thursay, Oct 1st!! Stay tuned!!

So cool, and that blue eye looks cool! Her eye shape is gorgeous! I can't wait to see the pictures of the procedure and afterwards. How exciting....don't keep us waiting. Lots of prayers for you all this week. Love you guys!

Too cute what an amazing journey. You really all do seem to be holding it all together for being through so much. So happy that you are all doing well and Sage has received such great care and healing. She looks really great!!

Deep breath and heavy sigh...isn't God amazing? And her life journey is just beginning. You will look back and stand in awe of where you have been, not even knowing how much you have impacted her life and she yours. Thank you for sharing your journey so publicly. It is not an easy one. Sage is so blessed to be a part of your family. You are in my thoughts often!
