More doctors

Yesterday Bill and I took Sage back down to Seattle to see yet another doctor. This time we saw a cornea specialist recommend by the pediatric eye doctor we saw a week or so ago. It was a very good appointment, but it certainly left us going, "huh?". He had a totally different opinion than the first doctor. We went into this appointment thinking we were just exploring all our options, but full well anticipating that the doctor would tell us she was not a candidate for any sort of corneal surgery that would restore vision in that eye. Apparently we were wrong. The doctor took one look at her eye and said he thought it was a "dermoid". Dermoids are often found in the orvaries and very rarely, hardly ever really, found on the cornea. But that was his guess. He thought it could be removed and then replaced with a new cornea and after some therapy some vision could be restored in her right eye. We were a bit in shock, we really didn't think that was a possibility. So, what now? We will schedule an appointment for the doctor to look at her eye while she is under anethesia so he can get a better look. After that we will decide the next step. We still have an appointment scheduled for May 20th with the eye doctor who does complete eye replacements, which we may or may not push back depending on when we get the other appointment scheduled.
